Meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Toomas Tiers
Akim of the WKO Gali Iskaliev held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Toomas Tiers
The meeting was devoted to the development of bilateral relations. Akim of the region spoke about promising investment areas of cooperation. It should be noted that the West Kazakhstan region became the first region of the country where Toomas Tiers made his working trip as the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia.
The Ural region is geographically the closest region to Europe. A number of investors actively use this advantage when determining the location for their business.
- Entrepreneurs place their business here due to the closest distance to the big cities of the Russian Federation, to Eastern Europe, the Baltic and Scandinavian countries. 15 million people live in regions within a radius of 700 km. This is a large economic market, - said the regional akim.
According to Toomas Tiers, Estonian entrepreneurs successfully run their business in WKO. The Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia noted the work of Estonian companies in the field of green economy and logistics.
During the meeting, the regional akim spoke about such priority areas of cooperation for the region as gas processing, mechanical engineering, beef farming, logistics, and ecology.
According to the assurances of the Karachaganak Consortium, in the next 10 years, the share of raw gas will increase in the income of companies. Therefore, there is a search for investors for gas processing. We are talking about volumes of several billion cubic meters.
The head of the region also dwelled on the production potential of the region. According to Gali Iskaliyev, the factories of the region produce both military and civilian products, there is an opportunity to reorient production to other projects, there are free areas and qualified personnel.
A number of international corridors pass through the region.
– We see a certain perspective in a multimodal logistics hub. Today, near the airport, where it is also planned to create an air cargo, an industrial zone is under construction, which can be used as a platform for a multimodal port, with the presence of a railway, a highway to the cities of Samara and Saratov of the Russian Federation and Atyrau and Aktobe of the Republic of Kazakhstan near the airport.
Negotiations are underway with Russian and Chinese cargo carriers to create a transshipment base for containerized cargo, so that carriers can leave Russian and European cargo here, pick up Asian cargo and vice versa.
The design of automated checkpoints to Samara and Saratov has also begun, - said Gali Iskaliev.
As the oblast akim noted, the region focuses on beef cattle breeding, there are a large number of cattle, rams and sheep. WKO is one of the main exporters of meat. The potential for exports to the Middle East was noted. Foreign experts come to review the production process at the meat processing plant, check and show interest in increasing the volume of deliveries in live weight and in the form of meat. There is also a need for
construction of another meat processing plant. WKO products have proven their quality, as livestock are kept in natural conditions, on open pastures for 10 months a year.
To guarantee support for foreign investment on behalf of the local executive body, SEC "Aqjaiyq" as a minority shareholder can financially participate in new projects in the amount of up to 10-15%.
- Our region is one of the cleanest in the country in terms of ecology. Therefore, the region is interested in projects related to ecology. Today, a discussion is underway on the construction of a greenhouse for growing trees in order to increase the amount of plantings around the city and in the villages, - the regional akim noted.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on further cooperation for the benefit of the development of bilateral relations.
